The S_FLOAT type denotes a IEEE S_Floating single-precision real
  value regardless of the setting of the FLOAT attribute or /FLOAT
  command line qualifier.

  S_FLOAT is supported on OpenVMS Alpha and  OpenVMS  I64  systems
  only.
