Delete Deletes the character to the left of the cursor. Steps: 1. If necessary, set the mode to insert or overstrike, depending on which you want to use. (See help on the CHANGE TEXT_ENTRY_MODE command.) 2. Press the Delete key. In insert mode, the rest of the line moves left. In overstrike mode, the deleted character is replaced by a space; the rest of the line does not move. At the start of a line, only the carriage return is deleted for the previous line, if any, regardless of the mode. The current line moves up. This is useful for deleting blank lines to form paragraphs for fill operations. To reinsert the deleted character, use the Undelete Character key.
