  Finding Text

You can search for a text string that appears in the text of a
  card.

A text string is a group of characters, including spaces, that
you can type at the keyboard. For example, you might want
to locate all cards containing the text string "locksmith."

To search the index topics in a card file for specific text:

  1. Choose Search Index... from the Search menu in either
      window. A dialog box appears.

  2. In the text entry box, enter the text string you want to
      find.

  3. Click on OK.

The Cardfiler searches the topics of all index cards in the
file and displays the first card in your file containing the text
  string.

To continue to search for a text string, choose Find Next from
the Search menu in the cardfile window. Cardfiler continues
to search the card file for the text and displays each card that
contains the text in its index field.

To search the contents of each card in the file for specific text:

  1. Choose Search Card... from the Search menu in either
      window. A dialog box appears.

  2. In the entry field, enter the text string you want to find.

  3. Click on OK.

Cardfiler searches all index cards in the file and displays the
first card in your file containing the text string.

To continue to search for a text string, choose Find Next from
the Search menu in the cardfile window. Cardfiler continues
to search the card file for the text and displays each card that
  contains the text.
