  Choosing Which View Appears First

  When you start Calendar, the first view you see is the Month
  view.

  Instead, you can make Calendar first display the year or
  day.  Set the view you want from the First View option in the

  General dialog box, which you can access from the Options
  menu.

  The first view always contains the current day.

  You can also have Calendar start as an icon.  For more
